A Peek Into My Inner Workings

Even as I hit the "New Post" button for the first time, I wondered if I had the dedication to maintain this blog. Of course, the joy of this type of blog is that I probably won't attract all that many readers. If I do, that's great. If I don't, that's fine.

Now that that's out of the way...

This blog will chronicle my attempts at coming to understand my own mind. As such, I may post something one day and completely contradict it the next. Furthermore, nothing I say can be taken as an objective account, because let's face it. What part of me is telling me to write this?

Regardless...

I wanted to look today at something I used to say as an explanation of what makes being an author so much fun. This is a direct quotation, taken from memory: "Authors get to mastermind criminal operations, manipulate hundreds of lives, and even stage battles for their amusement, all without being arrested or committed to an asylum."

Being over half a decade older now, I look back at this quote and cringe a little. Sure, I can understand that, to a 13-year-old, these things are some of the most intriguing activities because they are the most off-limits. However, I like to hold myself to a higher standard. Being an author isn't just about being able to do whatever you want because you created the world. It's about telling a story you care about. If I could tell that to my younger self... well, I'd probably get a weird look from me. Nevertheless, I'd like to do some public sorting for you all right now.

I more than likely have an infinite number of universes inside my head, most of them completely unexplored. I have only begun to put ten of them on paper (well, into Pages files, but it's an expression). Four have begun life as novels or novel series. One started as a comic and then moved over to a manga/anime format. Two more have started as comic. One started as an audio drama concept, but is becoming more and more anime. Another started as an audio drama concept and developed into a novel format. The final one is going to be somewhat of a multimedia project.

Moving on...

You can see how my mind might be a bit cluttered, especially considering that I am also currently channeling stories within universes that are not originally my own (Check out Roachia: A Long Journey Home sometime.). Luckily for you, I'm giving you the full ten-cent tour (and it doesn't even cost ten cents! Don't you feel special?). So, read on...

Oh, wait, I haven't posted anything else yet...

Well, when I do, read on!
